Counselors Corner

As parents we have our children’s best interest at heart and want them to be able to be their best. When it comes to learning, one of the most important things we can do is to help our children attend school everyday, all day. To do this, schedule appointments after school as much as possible and take vacations when school is not in session. Of course, if your child has a fever, is throwing up, or contagious, the best place for them is home where they can get well.

Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused and unexcused absences —can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school. Attending school is an important factor for success. If you are having difficulty getting your child to school, for any reason, please contact the school to see what we can do, working together, so your child is attending regularly.
